New York Awakes

Some say that the city is back. For those of us who stayed, the city never left. It did the same thing it does after a heavy snowfall — in the muffled quiet of the fresh snow, the city remains inside and as the snow stops falling the city starts to come out and explore the winter landscape. Covid took everyone inside and now as the virus slows and we become vaccinated, like the 17-year cicada, we are venturing out to view the new landscape. The only difference is instead of days, it is a months-long reemergence.
